Northport unveils new service that calls at major ports in Asia

NORTHPORT (M) Bhd has recently launched a new service, CMIX Intra-Asia Service, which calls at major ports in the Asian region.

The service is rendered by Shanghai Puhai Shipping Co Ltd, a subsidiary of China Shipping Group.

The service is currently operated by two vessels servicing routes starting from Shanghai, Ningbo, Shekou, Singapore, Port Klang (Northport), Jakarta and Hong Kong.

The first vessel, Westertal, has made its maiden call at Northport, Port Klang on July 29.

Northport told StarBiz the maiden call marked another accomplishment for the port, in line with its aim to support more intra-Asia services.

Northport is working very closely with Shanghai Puhai to bring in more cargoes in the future.

Shanghai Puhai Malaysia managing director Captain Lee Zhi Gang said: “We are extremely happy with the synergy with Northport.

“This co-operation between Shanghai Puhai and Northport would increase the intra-Asia cargo volumes,” he said.

Northport is the nation's largest multipurpose port that offers extensive connectivity by linking more than 100 shipping lines to over 300 ports worldwide.
